UPDATE NOVEMBER 8, 2012 --

Michiana Doulas was disbanded in 2009 due to professional trajectories going in different directions! Studying as a doula made me (Bridget) aware of the larger systemic and cultural issues affecting the American childbirth system, and I decided I wanted to study it from an Anthropological perspective and am now finishing up undergrad and looking at doing a PhD then going into research and advocacy. Shelley had a hard time coordinating the doula schedule with her day job of pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics -- She defends her dissertation this Saturday!! And now lives in Seattle with her 3 beautiful children.

Shanti is the only one of us who has pursued a full-time career as a professional doula and can be contacted at sbradley1979@gmail.com. She is a wonderful person and really knows her stuff.

I am very busy with school but I still do some limited local advocacy and have several contacts in the community who work in birth and infancy in various capacities. If you are ever looking for resources of some kind always feel free to shoot me an email at bridget.a.mcgann@gmail.com. I am also active on facebook and lead a private group (you will have to wait for approval when you ask to join) of academics, professionals and parents who are interested in science and research surrounding cross-cultural parenting practices, advocacy, and child development issues.
